RDC's third annual 2Litre Banger Mildenhall team championship switched to a winter date for the first time on November 25 and raised its best entry yet with a whopping 154 cars packing the pits spread across 41 teams including five long distance travellers from the west country. Sticking with the travelling theme and full marks to DI730 Dean Mayes (Cavalier), DI516 Carl Gould (Cavalier), CB158 Shane Davies (Mondeo estate) and PK190 Steve Bailey who all raced at Birmingham the previous night. On the car front the Bluebird was the chosen tool including an unusual coupe for DG76 Terry Mansfield but as expected there were plenty of Mondeos and Cavaliers. On the rear wheel drive front there were a fresh late Granadas, a lone Sierra, TB520 Craig Manning debuted a Stellar, BL124 John Chaplin returned his Mk3 Cortina and SA901 Mike Hale debuted a Cortina estate plus TB553 Justin Garman returned a Mk2 Triumph 2000.

Problems before the meeting as a nasty and potential dangerous fire transpired in the pits for KB17 Mark Anderson (Cavalier) which ended his meeting before the start. Mercifully no-one was hurt in the blaze but it did stop those arriving at the track from entering the pits for a period and the upshot was the start of the meeting was delayed by half an hour.

There were four heats in the first round with just over 30 making the gate for the opener which was most lively despite the slippery condition. PA879 Reg Reed (Mondeo estate) got things rolling by burying RB80 Gavin Wood as PA779 Luke Allen (Mondeo estate) stuck it to DI196 Stu Palmer. HG326 Shane Lynn (Cavalier) put away RB201 John Jenkins (Cavalier) as WD225 Nick Bull picked up the Sierra estate of DR246 Alan Butts and ran him in hard. KA336 Nigel White hit 730 Deano as 196 Joey fired into FA400 Kevin Shinn and ran him in a treat although a lap later he got a taste of his own medicine from KA117 Karl Dack setting the PRI young gun open for a fine T-bone from FA391 Wayne Shinn (Mondeo estate). DR133 Karl Day connected on the latter in turn as 117 Kamikaze blasted 80 Woody on the top bend triggering a fine wrecking train as KA620 Guy Whitehead (Primera) piled in and he was nailed by 391 Ol Matey who took one in turn from HG324 Mark Latham (Cavalier). 779 Munch meanwhile hammered KA217 Neil Smyth (Cavalier) as FA603 Jon Cooper ran in DI747 Lee Clarke (Cavalier) on the top bend. 879 Wrecked Reg scored on Ol Matey as LB446 Lee Greer (Primera estate) buried WD269 Greg Mulligan into the growing heap as Kamikaze singled out PA137 Jay Chilton for a solid head-on but the former took a hard T-bone from PA79 Ricky Twell (Mondeo estate) in turn. Greer blasted Chilton as 79 Twelly turned round to again nail Kamikaze as a recovered 747 Bro stuffed WD149 Wayne Bailey. The latter bounced back to stuff Jennings as 133 Karly won from 516 Gouldy and Wrecked Reg. Meanwhile on the last bend Bro stuffed Ol Matey and was nailed in turn by Wrecked Reg but the Damage Inc man made it home in fourth and subsequently Damage Inc scored the most and qualified for the final, 779 Munch taking the entertainer award.

34 cars for heat two and FB673 Darren Fendley (Primera) put away CH156 Ady Ford (Carina) as MA311 Lee Bradbury leathered 124 the Rook with a monster shot on the back straight. KB472 Mike Wood (Cavalier) put away Fendley as PB404 Luke Brinton (Mondeo) blasted 311 Helm although this resulted in PB776 Ady Groom catching the latter in the door. In the chaos around them MA343 Lee Edwards blasted CH445 Chris Smith (Mondeo) before the reds came out to check on Helm who was ok. The race resumed with BL788 Darren Gathercole (Cavalier) burying DG717 Darren Pindar (Carina) and Fendley before Mansfield buried PK207 Michael Woodward (Cavalier) allowing PB38 Tom Chilton (Mondeo estate) to T-bone the latter. PK741 Alex Waterman blasted GT768 Alex Savage (Cavalier) smashing the latter up the infield blocks with CH488 Duane Collins (Mondeo) hammering the former in turn. GT370 John Cobbold (Cavalier) buried Fendley allowing 190 Pikey to weigh in on the latter as 776 Groomy piled MA46 Wayne Packham into the pile-up on the pit bend. Gathercole scored on Pindar as GT371 Jason Cobbold (Primera) dumped 472 Mikey into the heap only to take a big shot from Pikey in turn. Sadly the Green Team young gun lost his helmet on impact and although he was ok the reds again came out. The restart was quiet although Mansfield was lively, burying BN619 Karl Turnbull (Cavalier) into 38 Tommy Gun before running 619 Rhino in again a lap or so later. WA37 Dave Lewis (Rover 416) won from John Cobbold and Mansfield but a fourth for GT682 Paul Sparrow saw the Green Team win the heat and qualify for the final, Helm took the entertainer award for his big hit.

Up to 38 for the third heat and the action came from the word go as DL525 Wes Starmer ran in SA502 Kayligh Dighton allowing WB102 Steve Old (Cavalier) to T-bone the latter as WB761 Nat Cohn put away MB392 Dave Bradbury. AA200 Wayne Holton (Cavalier) piled into the inner blocks as MB790 Ryan Rowland scored on the lush Bluebird of GY752 Sam Cunningham and BD119 Davey Cox (Mondeo) trashed 901 the MC with a fine shot. CA27 Dale Hughes (Mondeo) hit 790 Little Dodgy on the nose with SA706 Sean McKnight (Accord) burying the former in turn. CA549 Phil Smith (Mondeo) continued the expected Condom v Six Bolt issues with a shot on 502 the Chief as GY229 Ritchie Holmes followed 706 Gungebucket into the spun WB701 Kevin Cooper (Primera). 119 Cruncher assaulted SA384 Liam Conway and then he hammered MB170 Darren Teal as Smith was abused by TA287 Paul Totham and Conway. BD22 Dave Vincent blasted the Cavalier of TA388 Emmerson Fairweather before 287 Gizmo leaned Vincent into some dead cars on the pile up leaving BD67 Mark Whittaker and Holmes to end the event by trading blows on the pit bend. GY41 Lee Horwood (Primera) took the win which was enough to put the Gypsy Crew in the final, CA53 Dave Palmer (Mondeo) and TA161 Karl Totham were the placemen and Cruncher the best entertainer.

40 starters for the fourth heat with LB555 Anthony Clarke (Corolla) burying 520 Minge as a pile-up quickly formed on the pit bend. BB425 Martin Stopher (Cavalier) nailed WI503 Daniel Hollinsworth (Primera estate) while AB572 Paul Scully stuffed AN94 Jamie Wyatt (Mondeo) and RA236 Clyde Williams stuffed CB380 Trevor Wright (Mondeo) before MC164 Mark Dawson (Mazda 626) thundered the former in. CB24 Lee Hughes (Mondeo) rekindled the Condom v Dover Boy battle with a head-on to DV364 Sean Winchester as 555 Matrix stuffed Mince into the wall as AN157 Michael Piggot (Mondeo) connected on 553 Garmo. BB437 Chris Bailey (Cavalier) piled Williams Jnr into a dead car as Winchester turned round but met the well smart Primera of LB278 Tom Hills in a massive head-on. 164 Roar met Garmo on the nose with the former taking a fine hit from 157 Piglet in turn as Winchester battled back to hit 380 Shaky on the nose with BB898 Andy Battle (Cavalier) hitting the latter in turn. Stopher planted DV188 John Reeves into Garmo as Bailey caught Williams Jnr in the door. 188 Victor zeroed in for a solid hit on Shaky but took one from 24 Stuntman in turn with the two then enjoying a head-on. DV665 Stu Scarlett and AB567 Gary Brown (Cavalier) combined to ban Williams Jnr as 503 Odd Job met LA249 Matt Frost on the nose. Stuntman again met Victor on the nose with Odd Job laying into the former which allowed Scarlett to also pound the Condom. Battle also pounded Stuntman but he shrugged it off to exchange hits with DV465 Andy Scarlett. However Stu Scarlett went the distance to win and his points ensured the Dover Boys were the top scorers and they advanced to the final. WI587 Alex Humphrey and AB460 Lewis Barber (Cavalier) were next and Roar took the entertainer trophy.

Into round two with three heats but only 23 cars for this heat five with a number of teams noted by their absence. WB468 Kelvin Nicholls (Cavalier) leaned in Wrecked Reg from the off as Chris Smith attacked Chilton before TA462 Lee Cambell (Mk5 Granada) buried BC539 Michael Outen (Cavalier) into Woody but fenced himself in the process. HG327 Craig Blake (Proton) T-boned 462 Leeky in turn before Outen dished out a revenge T-bone to the latter. Twelly nailed Woody on the nose but took one in turn from the lively Outen who was hammered in turn by KB199 Jason Dack (Cavalier) before BC208 Jim Randall (Cavalier) put away 287 Gizmo. The reds then came out for a shaken Leeky but we soon underway again although the concluding laps were quiet. Not for Nicholls however as United smashed him into the infield blocks before 388 Emmo leaned Latham into the stricken Nicholls. Gizmo won from team mates 161 Flash and Emmo and they duly qualified while Outen took the entertainer award.

A better field of 30 for the sixth heat with Mansfield hitting Lewis over the rear wheel before Battle attacked Williams Jnr and the luckless Lewis was assaulted by Phil Smith. LA545 Karl Hough (Cavalier) ran in Stopher hard as the lively Mansfield leaned in 404 Spook before PB479 Dan Allen used his smart Bluebird to pound Mansfield. This left the Predator open to a stiff hit from Battle as Palmer and Williams Jnr met in a big head-on with LP107 Michael Seex (Cavalier) doing the latter in turn. Battle continued with a shot on Lewis as Groomy turned round to lay into Williams Jnr. AB211 Barry Franklin (Cavalier) won from 249 Frosty and Hughes but a fifth and sixth was more than enough to put the Allstars B in the final, Battle took the entertainer trophy.

A whopping 43 for the seventh heat which was one of the best of the day. 330 Old Roy set things in motion by planting BL802 Ben Jackson (Cavalier) head-on into Rhino as Fendley stuffed 247 Butty allowing White to nail the former as a pile-up formed on the back straight in which DL807 Chris Murfin did a full roll in his well smart Cavalier. AA19 Joe Mullarkey (Cavalier) zeroed in on Stuntman and White hammered Wyatt as Piglet opened his account by thundering Butty into the pile-up which had now formed on the pit bend. Kamikaze scored on Shaky before Piglet picked up Gungebucket and followed him into the pile-up. Puglet continued to repeat the move on Old Roy a lap later but this time he took one from DL307 Jon Joe Cunningham in turn as White thundered in 525 Wes. This allowed Karly to blast White on the nose with WI262 Jason Barnard (Cavalier) connecting on White as well before Stuntman followed in BN331 Jack Garrod (Cavalier). The Chief piled Karly into the wreckage before Stuntman hit Wes only to take one in turn from the Chief before these two met on the nose. The electric Piglet then blasted the Chief before Kamikaze hammered Wyatt, the former surviving a last bend attack from Stuntman to win and put his team in the final. Jon Joe Cunningham and Bailey were next with Piglet a deserved winner of the entertainer trophy.

Just two heats in the final round and another big field for heat eight with 44 cars assembling for another stormer. 701 the Hitman walled Phil Smith early on as Helm assaulted Wrecked Reg and another big pile-up formed on the pit bend. Latham T-boned LP415 Scott Cornish (Cavalier) as Packham nailed CA47 Andy Davies as BC61 Wayne Byrne (Cavalier) followed Ol Matey in hard allowing Pikey to connect with a T-bone on the latter. 207 Compo stuffed Babrber and Pikey scored on Wrecked Reg as Outen delivered a T-bone to TB429 Rob Peachey (Astra). Hughes then pushed Palmer against the flow and he met Ratty in a fierce head-on as behind them the action exploded. 479 Dirty Dan followed 343 Steady Eddie in full chat only to take a big hit from 400 Shinny in turn. Dack blew up the latter before he took a fierce shot from FA602 Shaun Cooper. The latter backed off in time for Pikey to thunder BD318 Terry Chapman into the carnage big time as MB392 Dave Bradbury turned round to attack Hughes. MA320 Paul Seymour met Vincent on the nose and 67 Sparky scored on Packham before Dirty Dan laid into Blake before the reds came out to assist a shaken Compo. The action was back into full swing immediately on the restart as Packham blasted 602 Mr Moody only to be trashed by team mate Bradbury with United completing the train. 320 Smiler came inside out to hit the latter over the front wheel as Cruncher met Andy Davies on the nose. 107 Seexy stuffed Phil Smith into a dead car and Mr Moody dished out similar stick to Hughes who shrugged it off to T-bone Cruncher although Sparky arrived on queue to even the score with a big T-bone on the former. Cruncher then piled Hughes into Seexy allowing 603 the Younger Hitman to hammer the luckless Hughes with Sparky zeroing in for a solid hit on the former. Vincent gave Hughes a fine T-bone as Mr Moody dished out a meaty package to Cruncher. Hughes was punished further by Cohn with BC208 Jim Randall (Cavalier) doing the latter in turn as Mr Moody and Cruncher continued to attack Hughes. 208 the Finger won with Vincent the only other finisher to put the Bad Company in the final while Dirty Dan took the entertainer award.

Down to 27 for the last heat with Williams Jnr under fire from Groomy and Stuntman early doors allowing WD225 Nick Bull to plant Munch into the latter as RA279 Ben Clifton turned round to meet Tommy Gun. Spook put away Wes as Shane Davies connected with a T-bone on RA97 Dave Brown. The Condom continued with a hit on Bailey and a further shot directed at 279 Teaboy as WA29 Allan Copeman (Corolla) walled the smart Mondeo of young gun FB604 Ross Cooper. Piglet squeezed Jon Joe Cunningham into DR303 Wayne Linsdale as Battle caught Cooper in the door and Shane Davies gave Jon Joe Cunningham a big hit on the road bend. WA352 Stu Brooks (Accord) buried Wes as Lewis took the win from Piglet and Copeman which put Twisted Metal A through, Copeman celebrating with a burial on Shane Davies which came just after the reds although the latter was compensated with the entertainer award.

25 cars for the final spread across eight teams with Twisted Metal A failing to make the gate while only Damage Inc and the Green Team had all four cars. The race started quietly as Flash attacked Gouldy and Emmo did the same to 61 Mr Burns before Flash assaulted 41 Loopey Lee sending the latter into a half roll to bring the reds out. The complete restart began with Savage attacking KA217 Neil Smyth (Cavalier) as Kamikaze buried Deano, albeit with a drivers side up attack and he was buried by Joey in turn. The action picked up in the second half as Victor turned round to meet Bro on the nose while Stu Scarlett rejoined from the infield and ignored the black flag to Sparrow in similar fashion. Victor now met Barber in a meaty head-on as Smyth and John Cobbold went head to head. Barber turned round to lay into Stu Scarlett before the former hit Sparrow on the nose as Joey fired into Flash. Bazza connected on Emmo before Joey and Stu Scarlett enjoyed a head-on. Flash planted Bazza into Kamikaze with the latter battling back to hit Joey on the nose. The Finger won from Gouldy and Flash with just five finishers all from different team and Joey took the entertainer award. The points were totalled up and thanks to their big score in their heat it was Team Flash A who won from Allstars B and the Bad Company.

A cracking field of 32 returned for the demo but the reds were out early when Twelly bundled Jenkins into Smyth, the latter displaying some problems. The action was soon back underway and Bailey blasted Wes as Dack hammered Bradbury with Savage connecting with a T-bone on the latter. Bradbury shrugged it off to hit Wes before meeting Twelly on the nose with Dack giving the Motley Krew man a big package. John Cobbold met the FB208 Jamie Nottingham (Mondeo) on the nose with Cohn nailing the latter hard as Smyth also attacked Bradbury. Spook also laid into Nottingham as Chilton met Cohn on the nose and Nicholls went in hard on Groomy. 555 Matrix scored on the Chief but the former was then stuffed by John Cobbold with Waterman blasting the latter in turn before the Autospeed young gun met Mulligan on the nose. The Chief handed out a T-bone to John Cobbold and Chilton blasted Matrix as John Cobbold took further abuse from Spook and the Chief. Bradbury and Matrix enjoyed a head-on and Cohn went in on Chilton as Nicholls piled KA620 Guy Whitehead (Primera) into the wreckage. This allowed Wrecked Reg to score on the latter the road bend witnessed two big head-ons. First between Spook and Nicholls and then between Whitehead and Groomy. Wrecked Reg emerged from the heap to give Nicholls a fierce T-bone before meeting Spook in a killer head-on finishing both cars to end the event in a dead heat, Bradbury taking the entertainer award.

A fantastic field of 45 Ministox gathered for their 2007 points championship decider and the annual Trunch Garage Shield with the field boosted by a few Spedeworth and PRI visitors and a lone Incarace guest. 311 Steve Hackett and 369 Emma Wallace made their debuts and there were several on their track debuts.

22 for the opener with the spinning 339 Ricky Garrod collected by 153 Martin Lake as 340 Wes Freestone removed 350 Thomas Parrin who was collected by both 381 Craig Upson and 114 Patrick Holford, 351 Lewis Byron then dumping 352 Ben Mynott into this heap with 372 Kyle Tuppen hitting the fence as he looked to avoid the chaos. 308 Alec Hannay made the early running from 329 Reece Laybourn and the recovered Mynott before Freestone moved into third before he overhauled Laybourn for second. 313 Timmy Barnes attacked Upson as Tuppen flicked out 310 Chas Lee and Mynott removed Parrin. Upson kept the action coming as he spun Barnes as Hannay held on to win, getting spun by the back marking 161 Billy Smith as he crossed the line. Freestone and 387 Ollie Ovenden took the next spots and fourth for Laybourn won his the white grade award.

One less for heat two where 330 Jack Thompson removed 318 Emma Powell leaving 366 Matt Noughton clear at the front from 577 Alfie and 552 Georgina Lee. 322 Thomas Fox found the wall while 385 Mitch Miles found himself on the wrong end of spins from 384 Jacob Foster and 301 Tom Wellham. Noughton spun from the lead and 302 Jordan Murray took over from Georgina Lee and Thompson although the former lost time when she struck the spun Miles. Wellham moved into second ahead of Alfie Lee but he was spun aside by 399 Tom Atkins who took that spot. 382 Jack Foster removed Thompson with Alfie Lee punting the former into the wall as Wellham and Atkins moved past Jordan. Wellham took the win from Atkins and Jordan but the former was dropped three places for starting in the wrong grade and so Alfie Lee took the third place trophy. A seventh for Georgina Lee gave the white top award while 314 Joe Annison spun Noughton as they crossed the line.

26 for the consolation with all three yellows tops found guilty of jumping the start costing them two places at the end as Noughton set the pace from Tuppen and 341 Emily Byron as 345 Jamie Lee-Callis ran into Garros. Tuppen moved into the top spot as Wallace went round and Chas Lee broke into the top three. Emily Byron stuck the bumper in on the recovered Wallace as on the pit bend 305 Ed Pooley spun Powell and she was collected by Jacob Foster and Holford while 355 Sid Magewick found the fence. Noughton reclaimed the lead as the luckless Wallace was fenced by Thompson before Chas Lee collected Holford. Emily Byron had Miles round and 331 Rob Gamble did the same to Parrin as Tuppen ran head-on into Miles with Annison also getting caught up. Mynott grabbed the lead and marked his final Ministox meeting with a win from Noughton and 389 Charlie Garrod. However the latter was one the three who'd jumped the start and he lost two places so Magewick took third and 544 Sarah Taylor claimed the white top award in fourth.

All 26 qualifiers returned for the final with Noughton attacking Emily Byron from the off as Murray removed Laybourn. Alfie Lee led from Georgina Lee and Taylor as Emily Byron suffered spun and Mynott had Thompson out. 313 Timmy Barnes went in hard on 370 Kyle Overy and fenced his target as Alfie Lee continued to lead at half way from Taylor, Georgina Lee, Laybourn and Lewis Byron although the latter was soon spun by Mynott. Laybourn eased into third as Annison attacked Georgina Lee and Upson removed Tuppen. Taylor grabbed the top spot in the final laps as the action continued with Lewis Byron spinning Thompson and Annison having Atkins out. A big crash at the end saw Overy go in hard trying to avoid Thompson and in the melee Annison collected Alfie Lee in the door. Taylor had taken the win from Alfie Lee and Atkins with Laybourn taking the white top award in fifth.

27 for the Allcomers with Wellham an early spinning as Chas Lee set the pace before Parrin leant in 356 Sid Cooper by the start line. Alfie Lee grabbed the top spot ahead of Lewis Byron as Pooley and Atkins went round while 349 Todd Payne stuck the bumper in on Cooper. Parrin had Powell out and the leading Lewis Byron was spun by Hannah handing Chas Lee back the lead while Overy evened the score on Barnes with a burial by the start line. 362 Liam Friel attacked Upson as Alfie Lee reclaimed the lead and raced to the win from Chas Lee and Freestone, Laybourn claiming another white top award in fifth. Alfie Lee was also the days top scorer and won the Trunch Garage Shield ahead of Laybourn and Atkins.

A cracking day of races with both formulas on form throughout, the seventh and eighth heat from the bangers in particular being superb, although finishing at 7.30pm it was a marathon day but perhaps given the entry and the carnage it was inevitable.
